Mr. Jongekrijg’s 4th Grade Class Routines
Weekly Charts – Every Friday I will send home a weekly chart which shows behavior, test scores, or any comments I might have about your child’s progress for the week. I have attached a sample of this chart. The first weekly chart will go home on the 9/11. There is room for your comments and concerns. I would like your signature so I know you had a chance to read the chart. It will be the student’s responsibility to return the chart on Mondays.
Behavior – This year we have a school wide behavior management system. I have a chart in the classroom with each student’s name. The chart has three sections green, yellow and red. All students start each day on green. If a student is not behaving they get a warning. If they ignore the warning their name will be moved to yellow. If there continues to be behavior issues throughout the day they are moved to red. In this case they would need to see the principal or get a phone call home.
Take Home Folders – Your child will have a folder that they will bring home every day. This folder with have class work, tests, or notes for you. Please empty this folder and have your child bring it back to school the next day.
Homework – On most weeks homework will consist of math worksheets due on Tuesday and Thursday. A homework chart in the classroom helps to monitor any missing assignments.
Writing Portfolio – Each student will need to bring in a 1 – ½ inch three ring binder. We will be keeping all of their writing pieces in this portfolio. It’s a great way to see the progress they make throughout the year. Hopefully, the portfolios will be read over and over to remember the adventures during fourth grade.
If you have any questions or concerns please call me or stop in at school. I am available before and after school on most days (455-0030). Also, feel free to email me at [email protected].
